On Friday 29th July, Disruptors of Design, Masters, Creators, Innovators, Leaders and Entrepreneurs gathered at the heart of design and innovation, INNX hub. They experienced the exclusive Newcastle premiere of the Invision-produced documentary, ‘DESIGN DISRUPTORS’ hosted by us in partnership with one of our locals, Mezzanine.
Together INNX and Mezzanine exist to build and bring together communities to bring positive change to our world. We believe in the power of disruptive design, the kind of innovation that has us hungry for even more solutions. We unite those who stand for something to think deeper and connect complexity to meaning.
The Design Disruptors documentary revealed a perspective on the creative process and how it is revolutionising billion dollar industries. Guests were taken into this disruptive experience upon entry and were lead into 3 synced, screening locations; the lounge and meeting room, the communal space in the back and the INNX Cinema with popcorn and Karma Cola in hand. They were then taken on a visual journey that inspired, empowered and enabled them to push even more boundaries in their own businesses and communities. Many said that they were enlightened to the true nature of the design revolutionising businesses around the world.
The designers who were interviewed brought a level of expertise and insider’s knowledge to share with the audience. John Maeda explored the area where business, design and technology merge to change the course of history. Julie Zhou shared about how she leads the design team at Facebook HQ to focus on enriching a user’s experience and designer, lecturer and social innovator Jason Mayden spoke on how he believes in taking risks to develop an average design into a courageous one that leaves a legacy. Each Designer believes that true disruptors are people that aren’t afraid to push the boundaries to create a wave of opportunity to really impact the world that we live in.
